JULY 2007 NEWSLETTER

As always we greatly appreciate the generosity of all the landowners that make our trail system possible

A special thanks to the landowners who joined us Sunday, May 6th for the 3rd Annual Landowners; Appreciation Breakfast at the VFW in Lacona …plans are already underway for next year’s get-together. The club also sent gift certificates to our landowners. While this is just a token gesture, the club feels it is important to acknowledge the sacrifice of the use of their land. Without the “donation” of its use our trail system would not go anywhere. If we errantly overlooked a landowner, we apologize…please forward us your contact information to the club ASAP and we will immediately make a correction – e-mail membership@pulaski-boylstonsnow.com or call 315-298-3522.

Our address and phone number have changed!

The club changed its address to the physical address of our groomer barn. The phone has been moved there as well. We have included return address stickers in this mailing with the new club address.

Thanks to all our dedicated volunteers especially:

TRAIL CAPTAINS Creg Ivison, Geno Ackerman, Jerry Arzie Sr, Jerry Arzie Jr, Dave Brancato, George Cummins, Earl Porter, Butch Roberts, Ed Mueller, Vince Bonanno, Michael Seelman.  The snow may not be flying but there is plenty of work to do…

The club is always in need of more volunteers to assist with a variety of work.  Trail maintenance is a major area where extra hands are always appreciated…please contact any of the trail captains, call the club’s new number (298-3522) or visit the website to volunteer.  There is also a need for assistance preparing the groomer barn for the upcoming season.  Please contact Becky Couch if you can help with painting, carpentry, cleaning or have materials you can donate.

Membership applications have been included in this month’s mailing –

Our grant funding from NYS is directly linked to registering your sled’s by December 31st (or sooner). Last year’s funding per mile was greatly reduced due to the fact that so many of us (me included) registered their sleds in January or February. Remember that the bulk of the registration dollars are returned directly to snowmobiling and the clubs.

You may join online by following the link to the NYSSA website on our webpage – www.pulaski-boylstonsnow.com. This will give you the ability to print your voucher on your own printer that day. Or you can join on our website as we are in the process of adding a Paypal option. You will have to wait for your voucher to be processed and mailed to you by our membership secretary. Or you can simply mail the membership application in and wait for us to process it. If you are in a hurry for your voucher so that you can register your sled, the quickest option would be to follow the link to NYSSA.

 President’s Point

Of the guiding principals that direct our club SAFETY is undoubtedly the most important. The very root of snowmobiling is derived from the idea of making snowmobiling safer and more enjoyable.

When we think about what it is that the club does, every one of us should be able to understand that everything has some safety aspect to it. From initially establishing a place to ride all the way through to grooming in a manner that enables us to better control our machines.

As we progress through the summer months, our trail captains are tackling various projects to make our trails safer. Some of those projects are replacing bridges or bridge decks, better clearing of trails, replacing bridges with culverts and replacing signs to name a few. We are also continuing work on the club’s safety procedures as well as refining the state snowmobile safety course that we institute three times annually.

If we all keep SAFETY a priority in everything we do, everything will automatically become more enjoyable. If everyone were to ask themselves “Is this the safest manner to accomplish this task?” there will be far fewer incidents and close calls to contend with. I want everyone one to have a safe and enjoyable summer so they are able to enjoy snowmobiling again next season; so please make it a point to ask yourself  “Is this the safest way that I can do this?”
